Collaborative Sciences Center for Road Safety (CSCRS) – roadsafety.unc.edu

The Collaborative Sciences Center for Road Safety (CSCRS) is one of five National University Transportation Center funded by the United States Department of Transportation. CSCRS promotes research furthering the advancement of transportation safety through a safe system-based approach. CSCRS supported the collection and analysis of the e-scooter fatality data, as part of the project entitled, “Understanding micromobility safety behavior and standardizing safety metrics for transportation system integration”.

Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC) – pedbikeinfo.org

The Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (with funding from the Federal Highway Administration) offers a curated set of resources related to micromobility, including fact sheets, safety studies, case studies, policy documents, and links to webinars and other organizations offering guidance on micromobility program management.

E-Scooter Safety: Issues and Solutions

Sponsored by the Behavior Traffic Safety Cooperative Research Program (BTSCRP), this project advanced multimodal road safety through identifying safety risks emerging from the growing use of e-scooters. The comprehensive report contains a synthesis of existing research, identifies key research needs, and proposes potential solutions to addressing known safety risks. In addition to the Final Report, this project produced practical guidance for communities related to the safety of e-scooters and other micromobility devices, published as the E-scooter Safety Toolbox (2023).

Micromobility Poster

The Micromobility Poster offers an easy visual guide to using recently released ICD-10-CM codes to categorize injuries related to micromobility.
